16" Macbook M2 Max Battery Maximum Capacity Constantly Decreasing

Hi there,

I have a question about my battery capacity and life. I have had this laptop for approximately 7-8 months and the battery max capacity is already at 90% with 78 cycles only. It's usually connected to the Studio Display via the provided cable. Sometimes I use the laptop alone, I'd say approximately 15-20% of the time. I never use it when the battery is lower than 20%.

And I noticed that recently the percentage has been falling pretty quickly. Just a month ago it was at 94%.

It is worth mentioning that the maximum capacity started falling just a few weeks after I purchased it.

I always keep the system up to date and use it with day-to-day apps, like a web browser, email client, Adobe Photoshop, and Lightroom without any extensive editing. I don't play games or watch movies on it.

Is something wrong with my battery or what can I do to prevent it?

Thank you!

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.3

seems normal.

not to mention it says normal?

The rule of thumb—if you are near the mains leave it plugged in, if you need the portability then run on the battery only—this is how you help optimize your battery charging and extend the working life of your battery by reducing the cycle count.
