Collaborative playlist not possible with my 9 year old son's iCloud account

I’m having the same issue but only with my 12 year old. My slightly older kids were able to join with no issues so I don’t think it’s an adult account issue but some kind of bug. I’m getting the expired link too.

We already have a family playlist that we use on our main household computer but wanted something they could add to on their own and away from the home.

From what I have seen online this is only working for Apple IDs where the user is 13-years-old and older. That may be why it works for the older kids and not the younger. Hopefully Apple puts out a fix for this.

I have the same issue with my 9-year-old daughter. No where do I see anything from Apple that Collaborative Playlists require an adult iCloud account either. It is very frustrating as she has been looking forward to making a family playlist with us and is sad she can't.

Looking at Reddit it appears we aren't alone and it is a system issue that Apple may be able to resolve at some point in the future with an update to Screen Time?

This is a perfect feature for families and it is disappointment to see if launched this way.
