App Store on Mac keeps asking for Apple ID password when downloading new apps

Whenever I add a new app to my account on Mac OS version of the App Store it asks me for a password and I find that annoying. I was wondering if this password prompt could be somehow replaced with Touch ID. iPhone solves this problem using biometrics so why MacBooks can't do that? I think it's about time. Or can they?
