I used to be able to erase and re-record a message when leaving a voicemail for someone by pressing #,3 but now it’s not working. Was this option removed with ios17?

This is happening to me too. I’ve always had this option when leaving messages for people with an iPhone (for the nearly 20 years I’ve had an iPhone) and suddenly it’s gone the moment after my iOS update occurred. And the person I’ve called is my sister, who also has an iPhone. This is so frustrating, as I’ve counted on being able to use this when leaving a message.
Me too! Since my first iPhone, I have always relied on pressing the star key and re-recording my voicemail messages on ALL phones with any service. It is definitely not iPhone - Android or cell-service specific. Now, that feature is gone! Does anyone have a work-around?
You need to access the recipients voicemail message system, which often just requires tapping the # or * button.
The ability to do that is completely dependent on the recipients voice mail system. That's not a feature of the phone itself, and definitely not a feature of the phone placing the call.
