Trying to track down the origin of a purchase

Okay, this is a little complicated. I will explain it carefully. I'm really hoping someone can help me. This is stressful and consuming ridiculous amounts of time and energy. I also realize that ultimately it might not have anything to do with Apple. I'm just shooting darts in the dark here.

First, some context: Many years ago I was a user of the Fotor app on my iPhone. At SOME point about 4 years ago I must have upgraded to the Pro account, which was (and still is) $31.99 annually. Shortly afterward I fell out of use with the app and forgot about the annual subscription. The following year it automatically charged me on December 30th. I was really annoyed, but reminded myself to cancel it. Fast forward several weeks I totally forgot, until the NEXT year it happened again. At that point I tried cancelling it -- here's where things get weird. I cannot, for the life of me, find a Fotor account anywhere (have tried every email address I have, only to be told "account/email not found"). Nothing on their app, nothing on their website. I cannot find a PayPal charge for it. I cannot find an Apple charge for it. I finally wrote to Fotor support (last year) and discovered they are in China. They replied that in order to cancel the subscription/help me find the account I would need to give them "first and last 4 digits of your card". No way was I going to do that. No phone number to customer service. Just email. I kind of threw up my hands and put it out of my mind AGAIN for the 3rd year in a row.

Fast forward to THIS year. I just got a brand-new card about a month ago, having got a small fraud charge on my previous card. I knew December was approaching and I was very happy that Fotor would not be able to ever charge me again, since I no longer had the card that started that whole mess.

Today I received notice of a charge from Fotor on MY NEW CARD for $31.99.

I have tried everything -- and I mean EVERY THING -- to find the source of this payment. According to their own website you can only be charged by PayPal, Apple, and some other thing that doesn't relate to me. I only have 1 PayPal account and it shows no charge to Fotor ever. I checked my Apple account and shows no charge to Fotor ever -- PLUS, I haven't entered my new card into my Apple wallet yet, so Apple doesn't even have the number.

How is Fotor got access to a brand-new card that not even Apple or PayPal has yet??

The only remote possibility is that the charge might have been on an Apple ID that I created several years ago but never used. I even checked THAT one and it shows no subscriptions or charges for anything were ever made through that Apple ID.

Please help! Can you think of any way I could be missing a charge through Apple? I realize I have other avenues to follow up with (calling PayPal and my bank on Tuesday). I'm just starting here. Maybe someone else has experienced something like this.

Thank you for reading if you got this far. It's just so wacky. These folks have gotten over $100 out of me, I don't know how, and I really want it to stop. I'm really unsettled by how this is happening with a brand-new card.
