Ads auto-opening Browser/App Store
I read through threads asking about how to stop this since I am having the same issue. When watching ads, they can put code through that basically opens your browser, App Store to a chosen app, some even do more. Huge pain in the butt that Apple refuses to fix on their end which would solve it all.
Solutions that seemed to work for some, but not all including myself were:
Go to “Settings”>”Safari” then
-Toggle on “Block All Cookies”
-Toggle off JavaScript
-Clear History and Website Data
Some of those are under advanced settings.
That can stop the ads from opening a webpage to redirect you to the App Store. But some of them do not go to the browser first, but take you straight to the App Store, so this won’t help for that.
The absolute best way to my knowledge is this:
Settings>Screen Time>Content & Privacy Restrictions>iTunes & App Store Purchases>From here “Don’t Allow” Installing Apps, Deleting Apps, and In-app Purchases.
That will make it appear that you no longer have the App Store, and can’t get it/open it until you change those settings for “Allow”.
Then to stop the browser, Safari in this case:
Settings>Screen Time>Content & Privacy Restrictions>Allowed Apps>Toggle off “Safari”
That will do the same disappearing act to Safari that “Don’t Allow” did to the App Store until you go back to the settings and undo it.
With these 2, even if you TRY to go to the browser or App Store you will not be able to. Neither can the ads.
