Is there a setting for auto block unknown numbers who send SMS usually for trying to scam or publicity, as we can do for calls? Would be helpful.
I didn't find any setting in my iPhone.

No, there is no such setting. However, you can have unknown senders filtered into a separate list. Settings>Messages>Unknown & Spam>Filter Unknown Senders. Note that lots of messages you might actually want to get such as 2FA codes from your bank or credit card may end up in that list.
There are also third-party apps such as Nomorobo and SpamHound that will filter messages.
Glad it helped! I find it doesn't work 100% of the time, but it helps a lot.
I forgot to add that your carrier may also offer some call/text screening features. If your carrier is anything like mine, they give you some basic for free and then charge you for anything more.
