iCloud sharing

My wife has a new Mac lap top. She had over 3000 photos on her iPhone and on my iCloud which I'm sharing with her. She isn't wanting all those photos on her lap top. If I sync her lap top to iCloud will all those photos automatically go on to her lap top?

Shared Photo Library - Mac Backup Hello, My wife and I have our own iPads and iPhones, but share a Mac with our own user accounts. I understand that if we enable the shared photo library feature then the iCloud storage is not impacted (i.e. it doesn't double account), but I can't figure out what will happen on the Mac. At present I have both accounts set to "download originals to Mac" and then backup both profiles using Time Machine. Will enabling shared photo library mean that all the photos I choose to share with my wife will be downloaded to her profile and vice versa? We each have a lot of photos - so this would be quite a big impact to our Mac and TimeMachine storage availability. Or does it not download the "shared" photos on the non-originating account? Thanks.

How to put all photos into iCloud Shared Photo Library For about a decade my wife and I shared an Apple ID. Recently my wife switched to her own Apple ID (because Apple Health kept mingling our data) and we've been waiting patiently for iOS 16.1 to come out so we could share all the photos we've accumulated over the years. So now that iCloud Shared Photo Library has come out and I've set one up, I'm left wondering how I get my 10,000+ photos and videos into this shared library so my wife can see them. Apple's Support page doesn't say anything about this subject: How to use iCloud Shared Photo Library - Apple Support Surely I don't have to manually select and move 10,000+ photos?

How do I remove shared iCloud Photos from my wife's library after deleting sharing? I shared my photos with my wife, but she didn't like them mixed in with hers and using up her storage space, so she asked me to stop sharing. After deleting, they were still showing up on her computer so I deleted sharing from her computer too. Unfortunately my 41,000 photos are still in her library, but now as part of her library which was only 2,000 photos. At least before she could select personal or shared photos, but now they're all together. There is no way to manually separate the two. She wants my photos gone. What can I do? Depends on her setting. If she ensures her iCloud/Photos setting is to optimize Mac storage (leaving originals on the cloud) then they will appear on her MacBook but use barely any storage.

This is what we do for all of our MacBooks, iPads, and iPhones as we have tens of thousands of photos and not nearly enough storage on any of our devices.
