tvOS downgrading Apps

Last night a major release of a tvOS app was installed (sorry shouldn’t have auto update activated)

This 2.0 release (NPO Plus > NPO Start) is horrible. It’s not even a Beta version. And they should have continued the previous alongside.

But unfortunately they didn’t. Telling everybody functionality will return in the next couple of weeks or months or not at all….. some functions the rever to a App that’s not available for tvOS.

So big question how to get the old version reinstalled?

(is there some kind of Time Machine function for Apple TV 4K?)

You’ll have to accept the app versions that developers put on the App Store. There is no method to revert to previous versions. If you don’t like what they’ve done, then please contact those developers.

No major release of tvOS happened last night. The current version 17.1 is from October 25th.

App updates are independent of tvOS updates. App updates are applied when they become available, when automatic app updates are activated.

Keeping old app versions (not updating) is often not a viable solution, as old app versions may become incompatible over time. Content providers can mandate a minimum app version for their service. The only way is forward*.

The developers (or at least the broadcasters their working for) know that they released a incomplete App.

In my opinion they should have waited with their release….. this is not even a beta. And I revert to the App as a major ‘upgrade’ not the OS. The App went from 1.x.x to 2.0

Too bad if there’s no possibility to downgrade. And unfortunately Apple didn’t refused this version as public.
