iCloud desktop backup

I accidentally deleted the desktop and documents from icloud on my phone thinking it would still stay on my mac, but now the files are not on my mac and i cannot recover it. How can I get back those files I thought they were also stored locally.

Try the following. Use an internet browser (e.g., Safari) on your Mac and log into www.icloud.com and click your user name or profile picture (usually at the top left of the screen). Then click Data Recovery near the top of the next screen and then click Restore Files.

iCloud Drive is a syncing service and as you have found, deleting them on one device syncs those deletions with other devices.

The only other recovery option that I can think of is this. If you didn't have the "Optimize Mac Storage" option turned on in your Mac (or if you did have that option on and had sufficient storage space on your Mac) there would have been a local copy on the files on the Mac (before you deleted them) that would have been included in a Time Machine backup to an external drive.
