Cannot log onto Santander account with Safari 17.1

I enter my Personal ID successfully, and then attempt to enter my Security number. The entry field for Security number turns yellow and one or 2 (seemingly) random digits appear in the field. There appears to be no way that I can gain control of that field to enter the required Security number.

If I use Firefox 119.0.1 then I can log on with no problem.

This also happened to me. It is caused by autofill being on. To circumvent it go to System Settings / Passwords and after entering the password, turn off autofill.

Thank you. That is a useful workaround. However disabling Autofill is a global change and loses the convenience of Autofill for all other occasions. So I guess you are suggesting re-enabling Autofill after finishing with Santander ? To me it's probably less trouble to use Firefox. Firefox auto-fills my details flawlessly.

As I never used to have this problem before latest updates to macOS and Safari surely the root of the problem lies with Apple ?
