Sonoma Update keeps me from access my photos

After I updated to Sonoma, my photo library disappeared. I still have my photo library on my hard drive, but when I double click it, or try to switch libraries in the Photos app to that library, it tells me "The library could not be opened" and that "it is in iCloud Drive, and needs to be moved to a folder on your Mac to open" but obviously it is not an iCloud file, because I can right click on it and 'Show package Contents' and the original photos are in there. Unfortunately, the photos are archived almost randomly, in folders labeled by single letters (A, B, C, etc.) and while I still have them, the thought of importing about 15 years worth of photos all at once with no organization leaved me wanting to jump out of my skin. All I need to do is figure out how to open this photo library that I've been using for years, but since updating to Sonoma it won't let me. Please help!

Fixed this on my own. For anyone else having the same problem, here is what I've realized: Most major folders on my computer had been part of iCloud storage system, ('Documents' being the main folder where files were stored) along with pictures, music, etc. But when an already existing file is too big, it will not upload to iCloud (like my already existing Photos Library). This Photo Library file was and always has been in the same location since probably I got my first iMac years ago. For whatever reason, the recent OS update screwed things up so that it made a new photo library. When I tried to open my normal photo library, it claimed it only existed in iCloud, and that it needed to actually be on my hard drive to open. But it WAS on my hard drive, because it was too big to send to iCloud! So basically, it always was on my hard drive but the system didn't recognize this. So after changing settings in Finder so that I could access my actual hard drive (Macintosh HD) I copied the photos library from my last Time Machine backup from before the most recent OS update onto the hard drive's User folder (a folder that wasn't part of iCloud storage). I lost a few most recent photos since my last backup, but my entire photo library has been recovered, and at least for now will not be linked to iCloud since that seems to be what really screwed things up. I've come to the conclusion that automatic iCloud storage is too unreliable, I'd much rather make regular backups to an external hard drive as a backup, which is what I used to fix this, iCloud storage just seems to make everything too complicated.
