iMac 2017 Retina 5k stop supporting?

Any idea how long I can keep using my iMac 2017 Retina 5k before Apple stops supporting it completely? When should I shut it down... Just curious - have a new iMac M3 but sure do like the size of my older Mac.

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 13.6

You can use it as long as you like. The 2017 model will still get system/security updates for a couple of years. Even if Apple stops supporting that model for security updates it's highly unlikely you or me will be hit if we follow the suggestions in these two user tips: Effective defenses against malware and other threats - Apple Community and Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support.

Unless we're celebrities (but not in our own minds), politicians, big time business executives, and the like we shouldn't have to worry about someone coming after us. We need no "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps to keep us protected. Just good common sense.

So enjoy the old model for its screen size and the M3 when you need a bit more power for operations.

That iMac can run Ventura. Ventura isn't the current version of macOS, but it will be (roughly) two years before it falls out of "the most recent three."

You could keep using the iMac even after then – though once Ventura is no longer one of the "most recent three", there won't be any security updates from Apple, and you may get cut off from applications from the likes of Adobe and Microsoft.
