on iPad using Apple Pencil, want keyboard to enter text, but I get something different.

Sometimes, when I am using the Apple Pencil on my iPad (iPadOS 17.1.1) and want to enter some text (e.g. a URL), I don't get the onscreen keyboard, but instead I get this:

Two questions:

(1) How do I get the onscreen keyboard when this floating window appears?

(2) How do I turn off this feature so that I always get the onscreen keyboard for text entry?

Thanks,

Kurt

If you don’t want this to happen, you need to turn off scribble

You can do this by going to Settings > Apple Pencil and then turn off “Scribble”
