I was sent iOS 16.2.1 as a security update yet I was also sent iOS 17.0 as an alternative option. Why have I been offered this option and is it safe to install on iPhone 11?
Years ago I updated an iPhone SE beyond its limit and that phone crashed and never worked again. Not ready to pay for a new phone just yet.

Keep the iPhone updated to the latest iOS always. iOS / iPadOS devices cannot be hacked or infected with Virus / Malware / Spyware if it is updated to the latest iOS/iPadOS.
These are the devices owned by my family which are always updated to the latest iOS whenever an iOS release is made available -->
I have been updating all these devices whenever a new iOS is released. I have never encountered any issue whatsoever after an update
My experience with iOS updates has remained the same since 2009. It has never created any issue ever.
