Unwanted flagged emails solved

Ok , so I’ve been having issues with flagged spam emails continuously showing up in my flagged folder on my apple email platform. They were constantly coming from my hotmail account. I tried everything. I checked rules and nothing seemed to work until I did this ……..

I noticed that I had two junk folders/mailboxes for Hotmail. If you look on apple mail and notice that you have two junk folders/mailboxes for the same email account that might be the problem. One comes with the email account that is synced with apple mail and one that can be erased (it looks like a folder icon) in apple’s mail platform. So I erased the one that had the folder icon off of the apple mail platform. Then I signed into my Hotmail account through a web browser on my computer and I went to Hotmail’s settings (cog wheel) , then mail , then customize actions. Once I was there I unchecked the flag box. Then I went back to the apple mail application on my MacBook Pro and I pressed on the mail tab , then settings and in the junk mail Behaviors tab : i clicked enable junk mail filtering …… when junk mail arrives : I clicked - move it to the junk mailbox (that is selected ).

it’s been about 2 days now and I haven’t had the problem anymore, but I am still keeping An eye out for it just to be sure. Now if this totally works I know it was something I did within these steps I described that solved the problem. I personally think it was the removal of the extra junk mail folder that solved the problem or it could’ve been everything I did , but I can’t be 100% sure. But so far so good.
