pinch zoom in outlook for Mac not working

when reading an email in either preview or full view 2 finger pinch zoom to increase the size of the text to more easily read the email does not work. I am new to Mac and rely on outlook for work. I am able to zoom in on outlook for windows but not Mac. I can use control + to zoom in and control - to zoom out but 2 finger pinch on the track pad does not work. It works in other apps like safari but not outlook for Mac. Am I missing something?
