Thanks Jan
My Mac connect to the printer via wifi ok. Its the function “print layout” that says no printer found. On Nikon studio app there is the option to use layout but when selected it says no printer found. My iPhone connects ok. I have loaded the latest drivers too.
As you say it maybe worth rebooting the whole systems.

Hi,
An Epson ET-8500 is listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support. This means that the model in question should be compatible with macOS 14 Sonoma without the need for an additional driver, provided that the printer and the Mac computer are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router).
Also, the connection does not have to be wireless. The Epson ET-8500 has Ethernet as well. AirPrint works with wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet) network connections, so you could choose to wire the printer to one of the LAN ports of the Wi-Fi router instead. Ethernet may be more stable.
If necessary, if there is a problem with AirPrint device discovery, try a full power-cycle sequence (including the router): Power off the Wi-Fi router, the Epson printer, the Mac, and all other devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the Epson printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the Mac. Finally, power on all other devices/computers.
Do check that you have the latest printer firmware.
If you are not using AirPrint (for example, when connected by USB), an appropriate driver from the printer manufacturer will be needed.
