Printer connection

Installing Epson printer. Downloaded associated software, goes thru process but ends with “printer can’t be found”. What am I missing

iMac 21.5″, OS X 10.11

To be honest there is no reason to use any Epson software. Please uninstall any that you have added. Then follow the instructions in Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac - Apple Support

Hi there!

What is the model of the Epson printer you're trying to connect to? Also, let us know what model your Mac is and what version of macOS you’re using. The simplest way to find out is About This Mac, available by choosing About This Mac from the Apple menu  in the upper-left corner of your screen.
