Thank you for your email and response. However, this did not work for me, and have tried it many times. I did find a short video (a little over a minute) showing me another way to open the find/find and replace. So easy, and I am embarrassed I did not think of this. Please see the video here: https://youtu.be/p0CvVztQ5dM?si=g5lneo0J1fdNCv79
Just opened my numbers, find and replace not working (had not been for months despite my searching and trying many methods), but took this gentleman's advice and went to edit in the top menu bar of my safari, scrolled down to "find" and opened it that way. Miraculously, the find option on the numbers sheet itself then started to work! Has been since yesterday after opening and closing numbers. I hope others find this useful!
Thank you again for your response and I do hope others can see this.
The video doesn't say anything about Safari. Did you mistype or did you link to the wrong video?
If you really meant to say Safari, you're saying that opening Find in Safari fixes Find in Numbers? That would be good news for all sufferers around the world.
I cannot try this because I don't have that problem in Numbers right now.
I'm sorry. I don't see the relevance of the question? It is a you tube video entitled "How to Search in Apple Numbers Spreadsheet". I synopsed how it worked for me. You simply open your "numbers" on your iMac, and if one is having the problem with the greyed out numbers then following the steps I provided it worked for me and I sincerely hope it works for others. Opening Safari has nothing to do with it.
Thank you again :)

I think the confusion arises from this in your previous post
went to edit in the top menu bar of my safari,
Maybe that was a typo?
Are you saying the in Numbers going to Edit > Find ... > Find allowed you type into to the search box whereas before you couldn't?

Sure…typo. Open numbers. Just go to the menu bar at the top, click edit, then find and it opens. Voila! I’m sorry I don’t know how I could make this any simpler. The video I posted as I’ve mentioned is a little over one minute and is very clear! The credit belongs to the gentleman who made that video!
The solution most of the times is simply to restart your computer.

Hey, is that your area containing the URL? I learned that you can't find & replace the link but can format it to text. It works again. Let me know if this helps. Thanks.
