Apple warranty when purchasing from abroad

That’s a calculation you have to make. If it breaks it would have to be carried back to Thailand for repairs, either in or out of warranty. Weight the cost of flying back to Thailand for repairs (they won’t accept shipments) against the cost of purchasing it in India. Add that if you get caught bringing a new phone purchased outside of India you might have to pay import duties and possibly a penalty for attempting to smuggle the phone into India.

Though it is theoretically possible to have some service done on the phone in a country other than where it was originally sold, based on uncounted reports here, you will NOT be able to get it serviced in India, either in warranty or paid out of warranty service.

Buy the phone in India if that's where you will use it.

It's at the discretion of the people at the service center. They likely won't have international iPhone models on hand for replacements, and therefore aren't obligated to honor warranties or AppleCare plans from outside their own country(except when both are in the European Economic Area or Switzerland).
