AirPods Max Wired Connection not working
My airpods max will not work using a wired connection. I have a genunie apple lightning to 3.5mm aux cable. The headphones work fine over bluetooth, but will not work with an aux connection on any device.

I'm having the exact same issue. I have a brand new pair of Apple AirPods Max and I've tried connecting them to a MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and two different iPhones (13 and 14) using a genuine apple lightning to 3.5mm aux cable (also purchased brand new), but I am receiving no sound.
I've enabled headphone accommodations on my iPhone 13 and 14 and I am seeing the green boxes under the "Headphones" section going up and down while trying to play music, but again, I'm receiving no sound.
I've tested the Genuine Apple Lightning to 3.5mm aux cable on other devices and it is working fine, so it's not the cable.
I've attempted to reset my AirPods Max back to factory settings, but still no sound.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello, I have the same issue as posted by the others. I had reset my AirPods Max just a few days ago, and tried to use them on an airplane and no response whatsoever. I doubt if it’s about resetting the unit again in my case. I believe it should just work if we are using the original Apple Lightning - AUX converter. The aux cable is working fine with other headphones. Any other ideas?
Hi JohnPBritt,
Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. It might be best to first test your AirPods Max with multiple devices to isolate. Does this happen when connected with this cable to another device? Try another headset with this cable as well if available. Does the other headset work without any issues? Lastly, is there another cable to try?
If you've tried that and are able to determine that the issue is isolated to the AirPods Max, try resetting them to see if that helps. The following is from How to reset your AirPods Max - Apple Support.
