OS 14 Sonoma Randomly ejects External Hard Drives on iMac

I just upgraded to OS 14 as I usually do for each new OS. Suddenly every morning I find notices that one or both of my external hard drives have been "Improperly ejected". I changed my hub, switched power strips, plugged on of the drives into the main computer, put both drives on a hub, but every morning one of them has been ejected. they start up again on their own when I log in. what is going on?

Well one major issue is you have CleanMyMac installed, most experienced users on these forums consider this app as malware. Please locate the developers uninstall instructions and please uninstall, then empty the Trash on the computer. Next, please restart the computer in Safe Mode (NOTE this can take up to 10 minutes to execute) and then restart normally and test.

Moving forward, please never ever install and of the following types of apps:

  1. Third party antivirus apps
  2. Third party cleaning apps
  3. Third party security apps
  4. Third party VPN apps

Then after you have done the above download the free version of malwarebytes (malwarebytes.com) and run it on the computer and if you have installed any malware this apps will locate and remove it.

there may also be other issues, but I see you have cleanmymac installed. having cleanmymac on your computer could very well be the issue. it is considered malware by most experienced Mac users. it can and does cause issues within macOS while providing zero protection or benefits. you would do well to uninstall it using the developer's instructions.

some light reading, see what others have experienced before and after uninstalling cleanmymac: https://discussions.apple.com/search?q=cleanmymac
