MacBook Pro M2 Max calibrated color profile overwritten by default Retina profile on restart

I am trying to calibrate my retina display M2 Max 2023 MBP 16 inch, Sonoma 14.0, with my i1 display pro, and I have successfully calibrated and created a new color profile, however, upon shut down or restart, the color profile stops being used by my display preferences; there seems to be some kind of default profile that the display is reverting to. I just got this MBP and I did not have this kind of thing happening with my older model,as that model had easy peasy color profile options under the display settings, so I do not know how to approach using my i1 display pro to calibrate this retina display on the new m2 max. System settings > displays > built in display does not provide any color profile options. Only presets > currently apple xdr display (default p3-1600 nits). The built-in "calibrate display" option in the presets drop down menu does not detect my i1 display pro. I can use the colorsync utility to manually load my calibrated color profile, but again, upon shut down/restart, the calibrated profile fails to load, even though the calibrated profile is displayed as the "current profile!" the profile only loads correctly after I click the drop down arrow > other > and select the same profile again. Then the display loads the profile. There's no way I can do this every single time my mbp restarts, so what am I doing wrong, and how do I keep my display on the calibrated color profile? I don't know what this is all about so any information is helpful. Thank you.

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities adrielc877,

The first recommendation we can make is to ensure you're using the calibration feature as explained in the Apple Support articles here: Calibrate your Mac display - Apple Support and here: Measure the calibration of your MacBook Pro with Liquid Retina XDR display, Apple Studio Display, or Apple Pro Display XDR - Apple Support.
