FaceTime keeps getting overrun by the new Standby clock

When I’m using FaceTime, I often turn the phone horizontally so there’s a better picture but ever since the most recent iOS update, the standby clock will override the FaceTime video. I can still hear the audio from the call but there’s no video and when I turn the phone vertically to make the clock go away, I see my phone’s wallpaper lock screen but there’s no option to “open” the FaceTime video. All I get is the audio and often times, the Standby clock will end the FaceTime call entirely.

Aside from turning off the standby clock, is there a way to fix this or possibly a bug in the most recent iOS update?

Hello la_tigerdude2005,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Does this happen when you are charging your iPhone and on a FaceTime call? If so, this is possibly expected. If you do not use Standby, you can try disabling it as mentioned in the following section of Use StandBy to view information at a distance while iPhone is charging - Apple Support

"Turn off StandBy

Go to Settings > StandBy, then turn off StandBy."

It might also be helpful to test your Always On settings. If not enabled, that may be why your iPhone is entering Standby. The following guidance is from Keep the iPhone display on longer - Apple Support.

"The Always On Display setting is on by default. To turn it off, go to Settings > Display & Brightness, then turn off Always On Display."

All the best.
