When I am on a whatsapp video call, the volume buttons don't work mostly(only worked once out of 10 times) and the volume doesn't increase/decrease. But if I use whatsapp video call in picture-in-picture mode then only I can control the volume.
I have already tried restarting phone and whatsapp.

I have i phone 14 and my friend has 13. Both of these are on same ios version. 13 works totally fine but my 14 has issues. I don't understand how it is possible if the os version is same. And whatsapp is not accepting that it's their issue.
Whatsapp is saying it is an I phone issue.
Note: I noticed it's not just with the videos calls but audios and videos also. Basically full whatsapp app is not responding to the volume buttons. Volume can be adjusted after coming out of the app. Seems like an issue with the last updates of either whatsapp or ios. Issue wasn't there earlier.

Wrong. Everything else on other apps is fine. You have likely updated your phone in the last few weeks.
But....WhatsApp has not updated their app. It is WhatsApp's responsibility to make sure that their app is current with Apple updates. As of now, it is not.
Watch for an update from WhatsApp.
Which i phone do you have? I have a 14. But my friends 13 doesn't have any issues.
Guys! Update your whatsapp. There is a new update which seems to have fixed it. It is working for now.

I’ve got the 13 with the latest os and got the same issue just can’t get the volume buttons to work! Definitely WA’s problem! Grrrrr!
