At the local Apple store, the team member also happened to use Express VPN and the iOS 17.0.3 update has a glitch(or Apple doesn’t bother to warn customers) that now prevents airdrop between my 6th gen iPad and iPhone SE. So now after the update if I turn off Express VPN airdrop works. I am only a level 1 and felt your reply was condescending.

DantiX thank you so much for this valuable information. I have 2 iPad Pro, phone lap top and they all are having challenges. I never thought it could be the VPN. I am not sure who this person or Apple rep is… there is no need to be rude. Your question was professional and intelligent. I found reading the response to your inquire to be both insulting and condescending. Geese!

I am unable to get NameDrop to work either. I have Bringing Devices Together, WiFi and Bluetooth all enabled. I’ve done a standard restart and hard restart. I’ve setup my contact card. I’ve tried to NameDrop someone I didn’t have their contact and deleted someone’s contact and attempted to NameDrop. I don’t even get the animation. When I attempt to airdrop a photo I see the prompt at the bottom that says to just tap the phone to the top of the other phone and nothing happens. Standard airdrop by clicking the contact works just fine. Little frustrating due to the conference I was at this weekend and having to manually type in contacts.

edit: I’m on an iPhone 15 pro Max 256GB and 17.3. The phones I tried to NameDrop with are also on iOS 17.3. One was an iPhone 15 pro and the other was an iPhone 13 Pro Max.

I'm sorry you find requests for clarification condescending. But, I'm happy to hear that you discovered the problem is Express VPN. Unless you're required to use it to access a secure server for work for example, VPNs don't do much to help you out and can cause a lot of problems. Keep it turned off.
