Family request approval on Apple Watch is not working

Hi

When my children ask for more screen time, I get a notification on my Apple Watch.

Like on the phone, I can select the duration and approve the request, which then disappears on the Watch.

But nothing happens on my kids devices.

The request still shows up on my iPhone or iPad and the approval works as expected.

I'm surely missing an option buried deep in the settings...or right in front of me?

Help :)

Thanks.

All Approval settings should be correct as it works as expected on every other device than my Apple Watch.

I’ve contacted the support team and they told me that I even shouldn’t see such an option on my watch.

The approval requests are distributed via iMessage and my Apple Watch is configured to mirror my phone, so I get the approval on the watch as well. But the support guys were astonished that I had a drop-down field where I could choose the duration and the option to actually approve or decline the request.

this shouldn’t be the case they said.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Did anyone else in the past (maybe prior to iOS 17) got approval requests on the Apple Watch and could select duration?

Currently it is just works from a phone or pad.

It was confusing though as i got the message for the approval on the watch and also the option to approve it. But i was never able to approve it.

I talked to Apple support and actually it should not ment to be working on the Watch anyway.

The bug was, according to Apple support, that the message showed up on the watch in the first place!

And since the latest updates on phone and watch, i do not get the message on the watch anymore.

However, i am still hoping that the functionality will work with a later update, because the mechanism is basically working. Currently not for approvals, but it is working for the second factor: To login to this website (with password) I was asked to approve the login and that message showed on my watch, together with the option to allow access. After successfully allowing the access on my watch, I even get the 6-digit-number on the watch that i need to logon to this website.

So basically a similar mechanism that would be required to approve family requests.

So APPLE, lets do this :) We need it
