My Mac mini M2 is not detecting my Samsung M8 Smart Monitor camera

I have a Mac mini M2 (2023) and a Samsung M8 Smart Monitor. However, the Mac is not recognising the camera that came with the monitor.

The camera works with the monitor home screen itself, just not with the Mac.

I've tried connecting the camera directly to the Mac with a new Apple Thunderbolt 4 USB-C to USB-C cable, but that doesn't help either.

It seems others have had issues with the same but got it to work eventually, so it must be compatible.

I'd appreciate any help! Thank you!

Mac mini, macOS 14.0

Never mind looking for drivers or scanning old links, the M8 isn’t as smart as its marketing folks would like everyone to believe. Instead, try the following:

  1. Connect the USB-C cable to the Mini’s USB-A port using a suitable C-A adapter or cable
  2. Connect the M8’s HDMI port to the mini’s HDMI port using a short (3 feet or less) HDMI cable
