the cord for my MacBookPro was in water. Dried it but now my computer gets very hot.

My house flooded. My Mac was plugged in but didn't short. I noticed that there was water in-between the two sections of the cord. I dried them. Plugged it in and the computer worked. But now it stays hot.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.6

Okay…

here are two of the most appropriate power adapters for your MacBook Pro… if, as you posted, your MacBook Pro works, but the charging adapter gets hot, then that means the charging adapter has failed/is failing ,something has gone wrong with it… so replace it with a new one, and keep both your MacBook Pro and the charging adapter away from water/ don’t let it get flooded… also, you’ll need to contact /call your local AASP or Mac Store with Genius Bar and take your MacBook Pro from Mid 2015 in for an evaluation and probable service, as the DC-in board and ( MagSafe 2 ) socket/jack/connector on your MacBook Pro mid 2015 may have sustained some damage due to your flood… ( water damage) … the evaluation at an Apple Store with Genius Bar is Free… the AASP near you, I can’t say… anyways, whichever/however you want to proceed/do things is up to you… either way is good…. But for continued safe and reliable operation of your MacBook Pro from Mid 2015, give either one a call, make an appointment with either one, and take your Mid 2015 MacBook Pro and charging adapter in for evaluation and service… I don’t know where you live, but if you go to Apple.com, click on the flag to pick your country… then go to “Apple Repair”, there you go… it’ll find you either an Apple Store with Genius Bar that does evaluations and repair or an AASP ( apple authorized service Provider) that’ll do the same thing…

Uh, maybe replace the charger/charging cable… you may have To contact+ book an appointment with your local AASP ( apple authorized service provider) or Apple Store with Genius Bar, take your MacBook Pro in and have it evaluated for damage/service.. off you know the year of manufacture/model number of your MacBook Pro ( the model number looks like this : Axxxx , starts with “A” then 4 numbers/digits) then you can find an adapter for it… Apple made a ton of 15” MacBook Pro’s over the years, 13” too, so posting/remembering a model number here would help me/us out a bunch… please don’t post serial numbers here, though. The model number should be on the outside part of your MacBook pro’s external case… take that info and go to everymac.com where you can search by model number ( among other things ) and it’ll tell you everything you need to know
