keyboard does not handle a space key

many apps do not handle the space key. e.g. the address line in firefox; the input form for this app. i've removed the key shortcuts. what possible explanation may there be. a strange one: emacs from the gui is spaceless. starting from the terminal is not affected.

Perhaps you have Full Keyboard Access turned on by mistake.

Address bars in browsers may not recognize the space as it's not a legal character in a URL.

When you say the "input form for this app", I have no idea what app you mean. Safari? If so, what website? Obviously, you were able to use the spacebar when composing the post. Though it does appear there may be something wrong with it as many of the spaces are doubled.
