Bluetooth connection dropping

I use an iPad 7 with the Spotify app to play music to a no-name Bluetooth speaker. Recently the music keeps stopping after just a few songs off my favorite playlist. The iPad is using the latest iOS and I have tried deleting and reinstalling the Spotify app. The app shows that it is still playing music to the Bluetooth speaker but there’s no sound. I have to close the app and turn it back on to get sound again but after a few songs it goes silent again. I don’t have a problem if I use my iPhone 11…the music never stops but this isn’t a permanent solution for me.

The iPad 7 battery is indeed weak therefore I keep it plugged in at all times. I have tried moving it closer to the speaker but that didn’t help. The modem, router, speaker & iPad are always within 14’ of each other as I live in a small home. Compatibility is something I don’t have information on except to say I had been using them for over a year before this problem started happening which was a couple of weeks ago. I searched to see if others had similar problems and found several who have and think it may have something to do with the last iOS update. In my case the problem began before I updated the iOS…updating it was one of the initial steps I took.
