Touch ID issue

stated the other day, will ask again ....Touch ID on my iMac is sporadic,,,, unless it's w/in an hour or less... I have to use my password, touch I D is not an option ...this seems to be a problem since the latest update

help would be appreciated

iMac 24...18 mos old... Sonoma 14.0 was latest update
