Headphone mode stuck after water got in port

This morning I was taking a bath and had my iPad on the ledge of the tub checking assignments when I got a text and reached for my phone on the toilet. Then as I retracted my arm I knocked my iPad into the water but my leg was there so it didn’t go all the way in. It was prolly a secound when I got it out and threw a towel over it and wrapped it up. I sat there for an hour and everything seemed fine but the audio. This isn’t the first time this happend since i once got moisture in the headphone Jack and it did this same thing. When I go to test if it’s wet with curled up tp it come out dry yet the audio is still not working. It’s been like 12 hours. What can I do to fix this

iPad, iPadOS 16

Hello

this might be water damage but first try letting the iPad drain by putting it in rice or leave it outside to try it this doesn’t work please try this link. Apple may service your device and replace or repair for a fee. If it’s with apple care plus. Take it to a ASP (authorized service provider) they normally replace it for nothing unless it’s out of apple care.

good luck

Water and electronics generally do not make happy bedfellows. Your iPad is not designed to be water resistant. While it will survive being splashed with water if immediately dried, it will almost certainly suffer irreparable damage if it is allowed to get wet, or is submerged for any length of time.

If the worst should happen, speed is essential. If the iPad gets wet, it should be immediately dried with an absorbent towel - then set aside in a warm, dry location to throughly dry. The iPad should be turned-off - and no attempt made to turn-on, use, or charge the iPad until you are absolutely certain that the iPad has fully dried out. Pay particular attention to the charging port. Never use rice to dry-out your iPad or electronic devices - as rice can cause all kinds of issues. If using a desiccant, seal the iPad in a plastic bag with a bag of dry silica-gel granules.

If your iPad has a fault after being exposed to water or moisture, it will almost certainly have sustained damage. You would be well advised to visit to the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) will provide opportunity for the technicians to test and assess your iPad. If repair is required, you'll be in the best possible place to explore your available options.

Water damage can sometimes be instant, which seems to be your case.

If you go through Apple support, they’ll charge you some fee (if your device is still eligible for service) and replace your device with a brand new one of the same exact model and storage capacity.

You could also check with a local repair shop near you to see how much it would cost for them to repair the damaged iPad components, but that can sometimes make some features not work if they need to be verified with an Apple calibration.
