With the loss of text tones on IOS 17, I attempted to download custom tones from I Tunes. Once the purchase was made, I discovered they never down loaded. After speaking with Apple Tech support, I was told that there is a glitch with the new release. Hopefully, a fix will be made and show up on the next software release.

You might want to add your feedback to the many others who have complained about this:
Note: you may find that the tone is available under the option to select Ringtones. That doesn't help with changing the text tone but, it might at least indicate the download was sucessful.
