Messages Freezing and forces Quit on M2 MacBook Air

Over the past two weeks, my Messages app is glitching in a worsening way. It freezes, clocks (spinning rainbow wheel), and then ultimately forces me to quit the app.

It started on Ventura, and I reinstalled MacOS. That didn't fix the problem. I booted up in safe mode, and it still did it. I have cleared the cache, but that does not work. I created a different user profile, per Apple's instructions, and the problem persisted. Upgrading to Sonoma seemed to work at first but then the problem reemerged. Lastly, I ran a hardware diagnostic and it came back fine.

I have more than 380GB of space available, and the Activity Monitor maintains a green color in the memory panel.

I don't know what else to do. Is anyone else having this problem?
