USB-C hub adapter gets relatively hot

I have a Satechi (a brand approved by Apple) USB-C hub adapter which gets relatively hot to the touch during use. Not anything dangerously or painfully-to-touch warm, but it is definitely a noticeable hot temperature.

It's an adapter I bought back in 2018 through Apple, which I used for about 2 years, then stored it for a solid 2 years, and I've now started to use it again. I mainly use it for its HDMI port.

I'm pretty sure I remember it hot back then as well, but I just can't clearly remember and wanted to make sure if this is okay and normal to happen, or if I should stop using it. Could it damage my battery, motherboard, etc.?

As at least somewhat of a reference, it does get hotter than my MacBook's charger.
