Safari 17.0 Favourites Bar Spacing

Hi all.

I upgraded my 2017 MacBook Pro to macOS 13.6 yesterday, and the upgrade included Safari 17.0.

It came with Favourites bar icons switched on by default, so I turned them off, but I now notice that three or four of the items that showed on the bar previously have now 'fallen off' the right-hand end of it and can now only be accessed by clicking the '>>' at far right.

I am assuming that this is a spacing issue, and that not as many favourites can now appear on the bar. So, is there any way of changing the spacing on the favourites bar to make it show all those that it previously did?

Same issue, items now pushed of the favorites bar, with useless empty space between them. WHY WHY WHY?????

Same here - 8 favourites folders are now in the >> category, making it impossible to drag web pages into them.

I would like to meet the Apple UI designer who has decided, probably unilaterally, to space favourites out more without a thought for how it might mess up the careful use of screen real estate by many users - even less with a configuration to switch back to the status quo.
