iOS 17 or 15 Pro Max Bluetooth connection issues with Volvo car

Just upgraded to iPhone 15 Pro Max with iOS 17.0.2. Connect to my Volvo v40 via Bluetooth and can listen to audio and make calls. However when I end the call, using either the handset or vehicle controls the call ends in the phone but the infotainment system still sees the call as active. The only way to “end the call” is to switch the infotainment system off and wait for the handset to disconnect from the car Bluetooth before reconnecting. Dont recall having this issue with my iPhone XS which was updates to iOS 17. Any advice greatly appreciated

The steps you outlined are verbatim out of Apple Support’s “standard playbook” and they do not work.

there is a serious Bluetooth defect with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I have the exact same problem with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I know that the phone is the problem because:

A) The issue is occurring in both of my Infiniti, my Mazda and home’s Bluetooth speakers.

B) No such issues exist with my iPhone 13 Pro Max or my iPhone XR.

apparently, Apple engineers have been asleep during the development and release cycles of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Hello MattL211,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Go into your Car's setting and forget your device and connect it again using these steps:

"Connect using Bluetooth

  1. Restart your device.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth, and turn off Bluetooth. Wait for about 5 seconds, then turn Bluetooth back on.
  3. Check the manual that came with your car for more information on how to pair with a Bluetooth device. Most cars require a phone setup on the car display.
  4. If you've connected multiple phones to your car stereo, try renaming your device: Go to Settings > General > About > Name, and type a new name. Then try connecting again.
  5. Update your device.
  6. Make sure that your stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

If you still can't connect, contact Apple Support."

Additional details can be found here: How to connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your car

If the issue persists, can you provide a few more details? Are you able to test with another vehicle to see if the same thing happens?

Cheers!

I have gone through ALL the steps repeatedly, went to the Apple store, AT&T and Tesla and no one has a fix for my problem. I have iOS 17.5.1 on an iPhone 15 Pro Max and this started in April, 2024. It is now July, 2024. I have been trying to connect my iPhone as a key for my 4-yr old Tesla using bluetooth. Thousands of people have problems using bluetooth and connecting to their car with the iOS 17.5.1 update. This is all over the net on various community forums. My iPhone 14 was fine until I updated to iOS 17. I thought it was an issue with my phone battery and traded it in for the 15 pro max.WHY ARE YOU NOT SOLVING THIS ISSUE WITH YOUR SOFTWARE??????????
