iPad OS 17: Issue with Apple Pencil annotations in duplicated PDF files

After updating to iPad OS 17, I've noticed an issue with the Files app when working with duplicated PDF files. When I try to erase annotations made with the Apple Pencil in the file that has been duplicated, they don't disappear immediately. Instead, they fade slightly but remain visible. If I close and then reopen the duplicated file, the faded annotations are gone. This wasn't an issue in the previous version, where annotations in the duplicated file could be erased directly. Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions or workarounds would be appreciated.

If you have identified a repeatable issue, or bug, you would be best advised to submit a Bug Report via Apple's Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Feedback - iPad - Apple

When submitting a Bug Report, ensure that you include your iPad model and installed version of iPadOS within the body of your report. Don't rely upon the pick-list - as this rarely includes recent versions/models.

Unless issues are reported, Apple may be unaware of the problem. Consider that beta testing is not necessarily representative of real-world usage; you may have uncovered a function or workflow that was not previously tested. Similarly, resources might not be assigned to investigate and resolve an issue unless there are a sufficient number of reports received. As such, every report counts.

Anyone that experiences this (or any repeatable issue) would be well advised to take the initiative to submit a report.
