How do i keep the predictive bar but stop this iphone 15 pro from auto filling my words? I am trying to type “tryna” and it auto fills to “trying to”

ugh, this is so apple. just giving the first best google answer, then acting like the issue is resolved and just stop replying. But i think it's impossible guys. They f'ed it up.

Omg has anyone figured this out? This is so annoying

The “solution” Apple Support keeps posting is useless. You lose the suggestion bar if you turn off the undesired “feature” of inline suggestions.

I restarted my phone after applying the edit to my settings* supplied by rere884 above.

*If anyone’s curious — I didn’t have to actually toggle ”Switch Control” to the ON position, in order to utilize the keyboard edit contained within the “Switch Control” settings

I believe rere884 answer worked for me. So far so good

They did an update in 17.2 I believe, allowing you to disable only in-line predictive text, while keeping the good ol’ predictive text bar above the keyboard…

But for those of us choosing not to update - this is the solution!

I just tried to figure it out and my solution that worked was go to settings > general > keyboard > and then under everything I had an option that allows me to turn off in-line predictions but keep the prediction bar itself

To turn predictive text off or on:

1. Touch and hold the smile emoji  or the globe icon .

2. Tap Keyboard Settings, then turn Predictive on or off.

Or go to Settings > General > Keyboard, and turn Predictive on or off

Exactly. Apple, please let us keep the keyboard suggestions but turn off inline autocomplete. And while you’re at it, allow us to remove the torch from the home screen. Should take your coders about 10 minutes.

Settings > Accessibility. Under "Physical and Motor," choose "Switch Control." Under "Keyboard," toggle off "Extended Predictions." This seems to remove the in-line predictions yet still gives you the three word options/emojis under the text.

But if you turn off predictive, the bar above the letters also goes away. I want to keep the bar but remove the auto filling.
