iPad Air 3 dead after iPad OS 17 update

I updated my iPad Air 3 (A2152) to iPad OS 17 and now it's dead. It was working perfect before the update and would hold a charge for 24+hrs with limited use. I tried multiple charging blocks, original charging cables and nothing. Hard reboot while and after charging, nothing. I made an appointment at the Apple store yesterday. They attempted a "jump start", nothing. It wouldn't recognize on the machine they plugged it in to. I was then told it could either be a port or logic board issue and there's nothing they can or are willing to do to assist. It is out of warranty. Do I have any other options?

Having tried all that you have - and having received a definitive diagnosis from Apple Technicians - the likelihood of finding an alternative solution is something close to zero (if not less).

Other than visiting the Genius Bar at a different Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - and attempt to receive another diagnosis - you have no realistic alternative options.

Understood - and you will no doubt have the sympathy of everyone here. That notwithstanding, any software update that involves re-writing flash memory - as used in modern portable computer systems - carries a small but tangible risk of terminal failure during update.

While of little comfort, what you have likely experienced with your iPad is very (very!) unusual.
