Microphone in iOS 17?

I cannot use the microphone in iOS 17.

This question is a follow-up to my inquiry at Dictate through iPhone to Mac OS Word? - Apple Community. That question was with iOS 16.6. Now 17 is different.

In iOS 17 I go Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone. I do not see in Microphone any setting for MS Word. Something named "App Clips" is there. The iPhone states that "App clips that have requested access to the microphone will appear here." I see no mention in this setting that Word has requested access to the microphone.

As noted in my earlier posting, I want to dictate through the iPhone to Word for Mac. I could do so in iOS 16.6. How do we do it in iOS 17?

I am having the exact same issue. I have certain apps I can’t use now because it requires a mic and I have no access to the mic in setting to turn on.

you're getting a bit warmer, R_55a, with newer versions of the OS, be it MacOS or iOS, an app has to request access to the microphone, that's also true on the iPhone as welll.... go to settings>>>apps>>security and privacy>> allow access to microphone/camera for XX app (which ever app that is) and you say "yes", then that's it, say OK and you're done, then the microphone will work in MS word??? Huh, I didn't know microsoft word had that... I used MiniPad, which works on iPad, and I'm sure there's an iPhone version out there, or there's always Voice memos...you can dictate stuff, save it as a voice memo then share/export it to MS word or Libre Office... which is also available on Mac, on iPad (I think) and it's FREE....

I have a mother who is half paralyzed due to stroke but still wants to type and try to write a book...She has her iPad and her iPhone.... ithat's the best I can do...apart from suggesting you look up free dictation software for iPhone SE (mac OS 17) ...oh, and on the iPhone with iOS 17 you have to turn ON siri first, it's not on by default, then maybe you can dictate ???

how does That grab you??
