New health app sync

The health app now installed on my iPad mini (curtesy of iOS 17), will not sync in either direction with my iPhone or watch.

Both the watch and phone sync either way immediately.

Reminders, calendar etc in fact everything else will sync immediately between all devices, only Health is having problems.

I tested a two way sync entry yesterday afternoon: caffeine entered via phone, water entered via iPad mini. Neither showed until this morning. The phone was on all night, the iPad mini was switched on this morning.

Does anybody have a suggestion?

I seem to be experiencing the same thing. The app apparently syncs the data on the various devices overnight. Puzzling & a bit inconvenient. Especially since I use all

the devices interchangeably throughout the day. With tracking meds I have to be careful to always use the same device.

Having now set up the new IPhone 15 the problem still remains.

The heath app on the IPad mini will show the current time for sync, but the data is still behind that on the IPhone.

Click on profile and scroll down and that gives a different time of sync to ICloud. Interestingly that time seems to be when the IPad is first switched on and doesn’t change, implying a once a day sync.

I can force both sources to sync by plugging them into power, but in theses days of promised longer battery life between charges seems counterintuitive.

Why is it that all other apps sync immediately but not health?

Hey there,

I do have the same problem. I do have to mention that I have iOS 16 installed on my phone since I still use my iPhone X, which doesn‘t support iOS 17. Either way, it shouldn‘t effect the Health app. I do have iPad OS 17 on my iPad. The only time it seems to update the data on my iPad is when my iPhone backed up the health data to iCloud. To see what time the iPhone uploaded the data, go to the health app > click on your profile in the top right corner > scroll all the way down and in small print you will see the exact time of the last back up.

Seems like the iPad pulls the health data off of the iCloud backup and doesn’t immediately sync with the iPhone like the apple Watch does. One somewhat annoying workaround I found was to restart the iPhone, which for some reason triggers the process to do a backup.

Now this might be different if you use iOS 17, then it could sync normally with your iPad like you‘re used to with the iPhone and Watch. But regarding your problem, it seems like there is no difference.

Have a nice day and hopefully this will get more convenient soon.
