I use iPad to transfer raw files of images to an external hard drive for back up when travelling. Sony A7iii files of approx 24 mb thumbnails appear. Sony A6700 files of approx 28 mb no thumbnail images appear. Images transfer OK but not able to view thumbnails. Will Apple update code soon for Sony A6700 raw images?
Apple have not yet updated their documentation concerning RAW formats supported by iPadOS 17 - the most recent information, for iPadOS 16.x being listed here:

Contributors here are all end-users just like you. Other than information publicly released by Apple, contributors have absolutely no insight into Apple's product development or release roadmaps.
Apple does invite submission of feature requests via its Product Feedback portal. If you would like to see support for additional image formats in a future iPadOS release, this would be the appropriate channel to make a request:
