Previously on tvOS 16.X one could set recent Photo Activity to be the screen saver. tvOS 17.0 shows it has the same functionality (Create a photo screen saver on Apple TV - Apple Support), but when Activity is selected, the Screen Saver reverts to Aerial.
Is anyone else having this issue? If so, any solution?

Same issue. I can select any other (shared) folder as screensaver, but Activity can't.
Also when you browse in your Photo/Pictures app -> Activity and select then "Select as screensaver" it's still not working. No solution discovered yet.
My other AppleTV remains on 16.6 until this is fixed. (Can't do an auto-update as it's behind a power-switch amongst other devices for real power-savings instead of being standby all the time)
Me too for the activity album. When I select the favorites album it at least changes the selection from aerial as I back out (though shows as albums) - but then doesn’t work on preview or the start after time setting. Just shows a black screen and on some of my Apple TVs a spinning wheel! No solution. Ugh Apple seems to screw the my photos screen saver up near every major update 😓
You're lucky you got someone who understood the issue and created a ticket. When I contacted support I was on the chat for 25 minutes and got nowhere...
Keen to see if it gets a fix in 17.0.1 whenever it is released.

Yesterday-evening, I've updated my AppleTV from 17.0 -> 17.1 and the Activity-screensaver is working again, at least via Photo/Pictures app -> Activity and select "Select as screensaver".
Not tested if it can be done via the screensaver settings itself.
My 2nd AppleTV is now also updated from 16.6 -> 17.1
Hoping that others also can set their Activity-screensaver now as well with TvOS 17.1
