RE: "I cannot update my OS."

By default, the App Store hides old versions of macOS (like Monterey – the latest version your machine can run). To get those from the App Store, you need to go through the links in the Apple Support article.

RE: " I 've a notebook Mac Book Air with Macintosh HD OS"

FYI – "Macintosh HD" is not the name of the operating system. It's just the default name of the internal drive. These days, it is a bit of a misnomer (since Macs now use internal SSDs instead of internal HDs), but one that hangs on simply because nobody has bothered to change it.

I already tried these. Standard answers. Not helpful

Those are all the answers there are, and there are no more.

If you would like more assistance, you need to start by describing exactly what failed. You might also try identifying your exact model Mac, the macOS version it is running, and the version you would like to install.

OK...so you're running MacOS High Sierra and want to update your MacOS.

The latest MacOS you can run, based on the info you provided, is Monterey.

If you look at John Galt's response, I'd choose the second option, since apparently Software Update isn't showing you any update.

You said you tried to update your MacOS but it failed. What failed? Which MacOS were you trying to install?
