Apple Mail always shows 2 copies in Sent folder (FIXED)

I'm running Monterey on a Macbook Pro (Intel), and I always see two copies of sent mail when I use Mac Mail. This doesn't happen on my iPhone, only on Mac Mail. One reported solution was to disable something called Antidote, but I don't have that. Plus, I don't have myself cc'd (before the obvious answers come up!). It's annoying, as I have to keep deleting the copies to make my sent folder readable.

Why hasn't this been fixed? What IS the fix? I can't believe that this happens to everyone and is accepted.

I did a bit more digging, and found some reports that suggested adding my mail account (it was/is an Outlook.com account) as an Exchange account. I did this, and it appears to have worked.

After conducting a search, this issue has been reported by several users on the Apple Community forum. One user suggested that disabling the "Store sent messages on the server" option under "Mailbox Behaviors" in the Mail preferences could resolve the issue. Another user suggested that unchecking the "Automatically Cc/Bcc myself" option in the Composing Mail preferences could help.

If neither of these solutions works for you, it's possible that there may be another underlying cause for this issue. In that case, I would recommend reaching out to Apple Support for further assistance. They may be able to provide more specific guidance on how to resolve this issue ¹.

I hope this helps!
