When I open my gmail
don’t see edit in upper right corner on iphone 8. Am trying to delete all my gmails.

What app are you using? Are you using the built-in Mail app? Or are you using the Gmail app? Until you can answer these questions, it's going to be almost impossible for someone to answer yours.
Are you referring to the iOS mail app or Gmail App?
