Can iPhone 6 be updated to iOS 14?

When you want to download an app that requires iOS 14 while your phone is running iOS 12, you can either download an older version of the app (if the developer has made an older version), or you can’t download it at all. An iPhone 6 can be updated up to iOS 12.

I own an iPhone 5s running iOS 12.5.7, and it is not useless at all, It is capable of doing basic stuff, even in 2024, aswell as calling, browsing, even downloading apps, so your iPhone 6 is NOT useless until its unusable, your phone is just limited from updating due to old hardware

The iPhone 6, released by Apple nine years ago, is too old to be updated further.

Time marches on. The latest iOS version the iPhone 6 can use is now four years old. App developers require newer iOS versions these days.

It's Time to Upgrade:

Unless downloaded prior to installing an update, Facebook is just no longer an option. The same may go for Instagram. These apps require higher-end hardware, and you iPhone isn't capable of it. So, from here, take this as a good reason to upgrade to a newer model.

Useless? As in incapable of doing anything at all? No.

Does it have extremely limited functionality? Yes.

That's right. You cannot get those apps for the iPhone 6. The developers of those apps have chosen to make them require higher versions of iOS than your iPhone 6 can run.

iOS 12 is the end of the line for the iPhone 6, and iOS 12.5.7 is the latest version of iOS 12. So your phone is up to date.

There is a very remote chance that Apple might release an iOS 12.5.8 if they discover some critical bug or security issue, in which case you could update your iPhone 6 to it. But your iPhone 6 will never run iOS 13 or higher – and will never meet the requirements of apps like the current Instagram and Facebook ones. If you need a phone that can run modern apps, it is time to purchase a new (or newer) iPhone.

No, iOS 12.5.7 was the last and final update for the iPhone 6. No more updates for the iPhone 6.

if you had an iPhone 6s or a 6s plus then yes, but a normal iPhone 6 can go up to iOS 12.5.7
